Limitless love...

I thought for the whole month of February we could continue our theme of love, because after all that is what February is about for most people. So, today we are going to talk about Hosea. Hosea was a prophet and a man of God. But, God told him to marry a prostitute and he did.

When the Lord began to speak to Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.” So he married Gomer, daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.-Hosea 1:2-4

Everybody wondered why a good man of God like Hosea would go and marry a prostitute. He could have done so much better. He could have settled down and married a nice woman of God and they would have been one big happy family. But no Hosea listened to what God told him to do and he married and outcast and an unfaithful woman. Hosea was told to love his wife Gomer like God loved Israel, without limits. He went so far as to go and buy her back after she had been unfaithful.

The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.” So I bought her for fifteen shekels[a] of silver and about a homer and a lethek of barley. Then I told her, “You are to live with me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will behave the same way toward you.”-Hosea 3:1-3

You see Hosea was able to show amazing, limitless love toward Gomer even though she ran away. He "saved" her and bought her back no matter what the cost was. This is exactly what God does for us everyday. No matter how far we run, or what sins we commit He takes us back into His loving arms and He forgives us. His love is the only love in this world that can fully satisfy, the only love that can break any chains, the only love that is limitless. So, when you are feeling sad, unloved, and alone run to Him with all your might and He will love you like no one on this earth could ever love. We should also learn from Hosea to love and forgive like God loves us. So, love and forgive like God and never forget who loves you most.

Until next time,

She Who Dares

Bible verse: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

-1 Corinthians 13:4-8
