Without love...
So, I thought we could make our theme last just a little bit longer. This is our last post about love. This week we are going to talk about what it would be like without love in our lives.
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
As you can see the Bible tells us that we are NOTHING without love. we have nothing, we can do nothing, and we are nothing. We need love in our lives. In everything we do we need to have love. We need it when we speak, when we act, when we teach, when we give. We need love. The thing is God gives it to us each and everyday whether we like it or not. He gives it to us with open arms and says "come to me". I know this is kind of a hippie rant like love everyone and the world will all be rainbows and butterflies. But, it's kinda true. I mean if we just showed the love of God to everyone each day then what would our world look like today? We would have no fighting or war, we would have no orphans, or people who feel like they are less than they are, everyone would feel included and LOVED. Can you just imagine what that would be like? That's just the bottom line. We need love. God gives it to us each and everyday whether we like it or not. He gives it to us with open arms and says, "Come to me." He forgives us when we do wrong and accepts us no matter who we are or what we have done. So, if God shows us this love EVERYDAY then, why aren't we ecstatic to go out to the world and share this freely giving love to everyone we meet? Why are we wallowing in our sorrow when we can go and run into our heavenly father's arms that are filled with enduring love? Why do we hate and treat others like they are less when they are just as equal as we are? God shows this same love to us everyday no matter what He is the only one that will ALWAYS love us. The Bible says that God is "abounding in love" (Exodus 34:6b) so, let's run to his arms with all our broken pieces, our hurt and shame. Let's run to the one who's love never ends. This week go and show this love to EVERYONE you meet and run into your heavenly father's loving arms.
